Wouldn't it mean that you would not get peoples hopes up - i.e. Pentax tells me the *ist D will have a certain feature and the final camera does not... Stating that the specifications are subject to change without notice will not make me feel any better. Everyone would put out the same information for everyone...
Also I imagine that what you can keep from your competitors just what you are working on would give you an edge - this is visible in other businesses too. Just a thought...
