I run XP Pro normally. My main drive C: plugs in. I pull it out to run WIN98 from another HD when I need to use the scanners. There are no XP drivers for Olympus or Primax. The two other (fixed and big) drives hold software and data respectively. I only need to back up the data drive D:. On another HD I have Red Hat Linux but haven't plugged that in for ages. I would if I could get software to do what I need. The Plug-in drawers are quite cheap and don't give trouble. When a new version of Windows arrives you install it on a new HD and if things go wrong its a simple matter to pull out the drawer and go back to the old one while you figure out what needs to be done.
Why not use multiboot? I don't like it. If things go wrong, and they will as we all know, there is such a hell of a lot of work to do to get back up and running. Reinstalling two or more operating systems takes a long time - I know!
