I might be able to find something compatible from a jeweller or watchmaker
if I'm lucky.

For that I just need a junked lens :) I have the original nameplate but the
thread is ruined. If I hadn't tried to make the best of a bad situation when I
got it, all I'd need is the three little screws :(

I may be able to ring a few repair shops in this country and see if they have
what I need lying around.

The focus won't shift - these just are the tiny little screws that hold the
nameplate assembly to the front of the lens. They don't hold elements or
any mechanisms in place. I might use a drop of loctite or something similar
just to stop them coming loose.

I think I'd have to be pretty lucky on the partial refund as they claim to have
made a repair to a shutter mechanism. I am sure they know how to adjust a
light meter. If they can't they shouldn't be in the camera repair business
(actually my faith in them is not terribly strong right now)! I believe it's just
the match-needle readout that is wrong as the shutter sounds about right in
"auto" mode. I will have to see if they adjust the meter sensitivity to get the
reading right, and the mismatch between reading and "auto" shutter speed
remains.

I have found a source of a service manual but I'm not paying the US$25 they
want for a digital representation of it. Plus I dont' want to lose some critical
part and render my new camera useless :)

Cheers,
