Hope your wife and the rest of the family will find all the strength they need to get through everything. Secondly, on a technical level: It sounds like 5x7 is too ambitious. Perhaps you could try to squeeze a smaller enlargement out of the image and add a wide, tasteful border to help make the handout bigger. Or, would your wife be at all open to the idea of putting two portraits on the same print, side by side? Maybe showing two angles on her sister's face, or two aspects of her life?
