1.  The D100 is all plastic.  The *istD has a stainless steel chassis
and is therefore more rigid.  Rigidity particularly in a digital camera
is very good.
 
2.  The viewfinders are on different planets.
 
3.  The D100 is huge.  The *istD isn't.
 
4.  A PC terminal is a good thing.  The *istD has one, the D100 don't.
 
5.  Eleven AF sensors, 9 of which are cross, make the *istD focus
smarter, not to mention its faster AF speed too.
 
6.  Multiple exposure is an option on the*ist D.
 
7.  Nifty power options make it more attractive
 
8.  White balance controls and options are much friendlier
 
9.  Oh yeah, it even meters with some manual focus lenses.
