I'm thinking about a FA 28-105 3.2/4 ($200 9oz), Tamron SP 28-75 2.8 ($320 18oz) or FA24-90 3.5/5.6 ($400 12.5oz) to use with my ZX5n now and to use with an *istD later. Since I lost my FA28-70 to fungus and FA28-105pz I have no short zoom.
The 28-105 is light (I like to remove the battery pack and go small and light). The Tamron seems to be a fine lens and supposedly configured for digital (whatever that means). I like f/2.8 but it is heavier than my old powerzoom 28-105. The FA24-90 is a good compromise but pricey if the optical attributes don't pay off on the *istD. My question is will FA28-105 give me as qood a quality with the *istD as the FA24-90 or the Tamron? (i.e. thoughts such as smaller digital frame in an imaging circle for 35mm may eliminate distortion at the edges, or maybe the limits of digital vs 35mm film in sharpness if any). I was impressed with the quality of the rebel 300d photos in the dp review. The Canon 18-55 is probably not optically the best Canon lens. What do you think? ps-I know the Tamron is least cost per oz. :-) Mark Stringer [EMAIL PROTECTED] 800-326-0110 337-233-6871 337-233-7198 Fax 337-233-3347 Fax Stokes & Spiehler P.O.
