   Not necessarily, Trevor. Too much light and the meter might
   underexpose. In normal illumination, with shaded areas prevailing,
   the meter will overexpose. This is not that bad with negative film,
   as the lab will compensate accordingly. Just make sure the operator
   recognizes a night scene.
   If want a precise exposure, just meter the house wall and
   underexpose by one or two stops, depending how dark you want it
   rendered.
   Also, try and take the shot in twilight, to get details in all
   shadows.
