Marsala is a Sicilian wine. Masala is an Indian sauce. Tikka masala is
a bizarre mix of 2 Indian recipes very popular in Britain.

Apparently it was invented here by Indian chefs who were tired of their
ignorant English customers asking for something that doesn't exist in
Indian cooking, and now it has found its way to the sub-continent.
