>I have a third theory. You catch colds from other people right? But when
they see you in your hat (especially the Nepalese one!) they go "Uh-oh,
weirdo" and steer a wide berth. Ergo, no colds :-)

>Chris (actually I have a wide-brimmed 'Indy' type hat myself)

I may have missed this, because of deleting some of this thread. Isn't most
body heat (internal) supposed to escape through the top of the head? Thought I
read that years ago. Probably someone already said that, and the immune system
is more susceptible if one is chilled.

Myself I cut my colds down to almost nothing by increasing the number of
times I wash my hands. Using bacterial soap. When I come home out of being a
public place, it is now the first thing I do. I won't go into it, but for years I
did some work that took me into other people's homes. Lots of other people's
doorknobs, other people's kids with colds and flu (kids are prime speaders of
colds because they pick up bugs at school). I used to get colds and the flu
sometimes until I read that most germs are passed through doorknobs and washing
one's hands would stop the spread of germs.

But they stopped once I washed my hands once before coming home and once when
I got home. And I haven't had a cold or the flu for years.

Marnie aka Doe Now if I could just do something equally effective about my
allergies. :-)
