I have no objection to thoughtful criticism - it's probably best to hear from the folks for whom the image doesn't work. And there is a big bend in the river there, so it's not entirely off the wall to see it going and coming. But you are right on the Hemmingway part...
I heard about the contest two weeks before the due date, so I was glad to have been able to pull together a couple of shots and get them formatted and entered on time! The pano shot, if nothing else, should stand out from the pack just due to it's format.
