That's right. It is tested for a depth of 1m and 30 minutes of  
immersion. But it may not be operated under water. It is waterresistent  
class 7 JIS. A description of theese classes can be found here:

BTW - the lens is fixed. i.e. all moving parts of the zoom system are  
inside the camera.

I had the chance to handle the 33WR. It is very nice - good pictures and  
very fast for a compact digicam. It is ready for shooting only a second  
after being switched on. You can find two original pictures of the 33WR
