I'll have to check on that, I haven't done too much with the software
yet except to find out that you can convert a RAW file to 16 bit TIFF.

I do have one gripe with the *ist D though.  You can't use P-TTL flash
with an a lens set to other than A.  It reverts to TTL.  I have plans
of using the ist D coupled to my bellows and slide copier to do quick 6
megapixel scans of slides and more importantly closeups of parts of the
slide and using an AF360 to light it.  P-TTL is infinitely superior to
TTL.  I managed to get one shot in P-TTL by trapping some foil between
the camera and the bellows to get it to think it was set to A but it's
to fiddly to do regularly.  So I am now engineering a new mount for the
bellows that looks like a lens set to A.
