I always hold on to my "dead" bodies for parts rather than
give away or sell for next to nothing. For example I recently
had a black spot f CLA'd and a couple of the parts in the
finder were damaged. My tech replaced them from a dead body
I sent along at no extra charge even though he had to open
up the dead one to get at the parts.....

p.s. I currently have about a half dozen "dead" Pentax SM bodies and
they aren't for sale.....

Subject: salvage repair shop?

Can anyone name any reputable repair shop or repair person that
uses salvaged old pentax parts to repair old pentaxes?

I'm asking not because I want to get gear repaired, but rather
because I have an MX, K2 and SMC Takumar 20mm that are all broken
and declared irreparable for lack of parts by my very good local
repair shop. If there is some repair shop known to the Pentax user
community that could cannabalize these items for parts and keep other
Pentaxes going then I'd be happy to send them along for free knowing
that they will be put to good use. I'm looking for a reputable shop
or repair person simply because I'd like to know that the dead stuff
really does get used for repair parts or refurbished into working
equipment so that someone benefits from it.
