I don't think it will work. It won't add "A"-ness to a non-"A" lens. My PZ-1p can tell the difference between "K"/"M" lenses and "A" lenses even when they are mounted on the 1.7AF adapter. I'd expect the *ist-D to be able to tell the difference, too. I do intend to try the 1.7 AF adapter on the *ist-D, but with my A* 200. I've had good results in the past with the AF adapter on an A* 300, and I want to see if I can get similar results from a more lightweight setup.
