Resending cuz something weird happened to the subject line before....

On 5/10/03, [EMAIL PROTECTED] disgorged:

>I'm not yet an accomplished Photoshop person, and looking in my
>Photoshop 5 manual, I don't see "optimizing."
>What it is, please?
>I know of file name optimizing. Is that it?
>Or, more likely, is it optimizing colors? My GraphicConverter app can do
>that, so perhaps that's the optimization to which you refer...

When I refer to optimising (UK spelling, so forgive me ;-) I simply mean
'processing' the image so that it meets certain criteria that I have
based on personal taste. To wit: open pic, apply curves, apply unsharp
mask, crop, save. This alters the shot by giving it good contrast and
color levels, sharpens things up a bit (amount dependent on ISO setting
and purely personal preference), and frames the pic to my liking. It has
now been optimised to get what I consider to be the best out of the shot.
I always have the unaltered original to go back to if I wish, and i have
done on some occasions.

You can use any application that you like that allows the pic to be
changed to meet your own criteria.

Cheers,
  Cotty
