The "n" denotes a host of "new" ergonomic improvements, which were
enthusiastically detailed in words and photographs in Popular Photography.
Also, wasn't spot metering missing from the original MZ-5?

So what does the small n in MZ-5n stand for? The two big differences
between MZ-5 and MZ-5n are panorama mode and DOF preview, and neither
conjure up anython vaguely N-ish in my head.
