Hello,

Thank you for your report, we have reviewed the listings you have
brought to our attention and taken the appropriate action. In order to
request a refund for your listing fees, you will need to file a case
with the billing department. Please use the following link:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/basics/select-support.html

Violations of eBay's listing policies can lead to consequences that
range from issuing the seller an informational alert, ending the
listing(s), moving the listing(s) to a more appropriate category, a
temporary suspension, an indefinite suspension or terminating the
membership. Repeated violations of eBay's listing policies can result in
the suspension of a member's account.

I can understand your desire to know what action we may have taken on
the seller's account. However, due to eBay's Privacy Policy, I am unable
to provide you with information regarding the details of another
member's account. This is for the protection of all eBay members.

We appreciate your vigilance in helping us to keep inappropriate
listings off eBay.

My listing:

me=ADME:B:EOAS:AU:3

His listing:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2563924879&category
=11813&rd=1

I did contact him and he denied copying the text saying that he'd had a
professional do it for him. This makes
no difference whatsoever since it was he who posted the plagiarised
description.

Here is his reply:

Excuse me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't no who in the hell you are,
but I
did nothing of the kind so you go ahead and report me all you want. You
have
a lot of nerve buddy! accusing me of steeling anything from you, I hired
a
guy from Micro Optical to help me with the rest of the item's that I no
nothing about (NOT THAT I OWE YOU ANY EXPLANATIONS, BUT NEXT TIME YOU
BETTER
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU GO POINTING THAT UGLY FINGER OF
YOURS.)

I need eBay UK to do something about this because I intend to post a lot
more stuff like this and I don't want him to steal any more of my hard
work
... and my sales as a result!

I've had a number of emails telling me that the text on the two listings
is
the same. I withdrew my Heine condenser early and would appreciate a
credit
from eBay, to my PayPal account, for the fees involved. Thanks.

Best,

Don Williams

Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay.

We want to help you, but in order to do so we need the following
information:

 1. The item number of the listing that you are reporting
 2. The item number of a listing that you posted on eBay demonstrating
the seller copied your image(s) or description(s)

If your original email to us did not include the above information,
please send us the requested information by replying to this message.

If you haven't already contacted the seller that you're reporting, we
encourage you to do so before responding to this email. We have found
that many people are unaware that using images or text that they have
found on eBay or other sites on the Internet is against eBay policy.
Many of them will change their listings when contacted by the owner of
the material.

Please feel free to refer the other seller to eBay's policy page at:

 http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-text-and-images.html

Thanks again for writing, and thank you for being part of the eBay
community.

I recently listed an item, the description appears below:

"After Zeiss patented the Zernike Phase Contrast condenser in the early
1900s, Leitz engineers were forced to design their own phase equipment.
The Heine Phase Contrast condenser has a very sophisticated optical
configuration. This condenser not only provides phase contrast with any
phase objective from the lowest to the highest magnifications, but gives
excellent dark field and bright field illumination as well. The
condenser is fitted with an oil immersion top element and takes the
standard Leitz dovetails slide filter holder. The upper high NA optic
unscrews giving a larger cone of illumination for use with lower powered
objectives.

In practice the Heine device will work with any phase objectives and is
not restricted to those from Leitz of the period. I have used a Heine
condenser with Carl Zeiss (West Germany) phase contrast objectives with
excellent results. It is very easy to change from bright field, through
phase contrast to dark field and this can be achieved in seconds. The
optical design is rather complicated and the optics were very expensive
to make. This condenser is in excellent condition and has a 46,5 mm wide
dovetail fitting. It takes the standard Leitz filter holder which
attaches to the bottom of the optics tube. The Heine condenser can be
used with the following Leitz microscopes, amongst others: Ortholux I,
Orthoplan, Metalloplan, Dialux (old grey), Laborlux (old black),
SM-Lux."

A few days later a seller - dnelian - listed a similar item and used my
description *word for word*. This is plagiarism and he should be
penalised for this. I took two hours to write that text and did a
careful historical and technical search first. And this man simply stole
my work.
