Rob and a number of others have reported that 35mm film camera prices are in the toilet. Once again, I turned to ebay, the great arbitrer of camera prices, in order to pick up some bargains. Once again, I was met with disappointment. These don't seem to be bargains in my book: Camnera one, an LX at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2958055690&category=15240 The price for a bare body is 315.99 with 15 hours to go. There are 13 bids. Item two is a set of LX viefinders:.FB-1, FD-1. and FC-1. The price is now 202.61 with 2 days, 18 hours to go, 4 bids Another LX body can be seen at.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2958676653&category=15240 The price for this bare body is 243.50 with 5 days, 18 hours to go To date this item has drawn 14 bids.
My apologies to anyone who doesn't like to see ebay auctions posted here. (I am counted among those.) But I think the rampant rumours about the immediate demise of the film camera market need to be addressed. Remember, digital cameras are nothing new. Nikon has been making digital SLRs for quie a few years, yet Nikon film cameras still command a good dollar. Now Pentax releases their first, somewhat limited dslr and everyone is throwing the lifeboats in the water and jumping overboard. It doesn't happen that way guys. Take a look at what's actually going on in the real world of camera sales and pricing. Paul
