Pentax A35-105 f3.5, purchased from KEH in 'bargain' condition. When I change the zoom, the focus seems to change. For example, at 105mm focused out at 20', after zooming out a bit it will clearly focus well below the 20' mark on the focus scale. I find that I cannot trust the scale near the 35mm end of the zoom range. Is this actually a varifocal lens?
I have come accorss three A35-105/3.5, two in mint condition and one in fair condition. The fair condition one was like yours while the other two weren't. I am 100% certain your sample is faulty. This zoom is a bxtch to service. Quite possible it has been stripped before but didn't adjusted properly. I would return it if I were you.
