My opinion: The sekond way is better for the man who has to
do
the printing work, because only you has to examine the whole
negative and he can adjust the printer for cropping without
loosing time.

I make proofs in this manner, give them to the laboratory
and
collect them without any problems over the years. And at
home,
in my own laboratory I work also with uncropped proof
cropping marked drawn on it.
