It is very useful. My digital camera before the *ist D was a Sony DSC-F717 which has a rotating viewfinder (the whole back of the camera rotates). I used this all the time. A few times that I liked it: * tripod usage -- I can carry a shorter/lighter tripod for travelling * macros and ground level shots -- don't have to kneel in the mud. * discrete shooting -- people don't think that you are taking photographs when the camera is in your lap (the nearly silent shutter helps too). alex
