I occasionaly use a Tamron2x times teleconverter with a Pentax F*300/4.5. That setup is probably asking a lot from autofocus, but I still try anyway. On a slightly overcast day, I cannot focus at all with the PZ-1P (mine is actually a Z-1P -Canada). It just hunts back and forth, so I have to manually focus. The same with my MZ-3. My *ist locks on right away. On one slightly over cast day, I took the converter, lense and *ist to a camera store and they let me take an MZ-S outside so I compared it with the *ist. With people walking down the street, the *ist picked them up right away. The MZ-S had a little trouble but after about a second, it focused on them. I tried both in the servo/continuous mode and also in the single mode. Both held the focus on the walking people in servo mode. I didn't have film in the camera, and in hindsight I probably should have so I could view the pics to confirm. But anyway, I have had good results with the *ist (but maybe slighty overcast gives more light for autofocus than inside a mall in your test) Greg Cooper
