Hi Dave

I've spent the majority of the last year photographing horses racing,
especially at night. I gather that is similar enough to indoor work. The
main problem I have is not the AF but fast enough shutter speeds.

I use a Z-1p and an MZ-3 with an assortment of lenses, 300/4, 100/2.8,
50/1.7, 50/1.7 + 1.7x AF teleconverter (gives 85/2.8). In all instances I
have had no problems with the AF working at all. This includes some pretty
dim country race tracks where the lighting isn't quite up to television
standard.

I am using Fujipress 800 colour film, and the results from the film are
pretty damn good. Whenever I've tried Kodak Max 400 in the same situation
it tends to get ugly in any portion of the frame that's underexposed. I
haven't had the same problem with the faster Fujipress film.

What sort of shutter speed do you like to get when you're photographing
horse jumping?

Cheers

Jon
