I got the epson 3170, recently discontinued, from Adorama for the incredibly
low price of $179-- basically the same specs as the 3200 and the 3400.

It's hard to keep track, with Epson introducing new models with dizzying
frequency, but I was under the impression that the 3170 was just introduced
a couple of months ago, as a less expensive version of the 3200, without the
transparency adapter lid that comes with the 3200. It's a good deal if you
don't need to scan slides or negatives.

As for the 3200 PRO, the addition of Monaco EZcolor could be very
worthwhile. I don't have it, but I'm wondering what I'm missing. It sounds
like it could save a lot of time, paper, and ink. Has anyone tried it?
