A question about that grip. Is the tripod mount on the lens axis?

a wiseguy, huh?

Jerome; I bought the grip and also was disappointed with the "plasticky" feel.

Stinks, doesn't it? It's no BG-10.

It does balance the camera better and, once attached, feels ok. I REALLY like the vertical shutter release complete with Av and Tv dials!

Thats what I'm looking forward to; hoping that the functionality overrides the mediocre ergonomics... particularly with the controls that you mentioned. I can at least say that I agree about the balance part, particularly with a heavy lens like the Sigma 24-70 1:2.8. I used that combo last night at a birthday party, and the rig just felt lop-sided. Feels better with the grip, though. So it's a plus. $160 plus? thats still TBD.
