While the picture qualities are different, there is really nothing to say that one is better than the other. It looks like Pentax may be trying to emulate the look of film with the ist D. Both Brian and I have noted that the ist D prints have a smoother tonality to them than the Canon prints. Less of the digital "look" for lack of a better term from the Pentax than from the Canon. This approach may not translate as well to the computer screen, but it does seem to have an advantage on paper.

Thanks, looking at people's photos I've seriously been wondering about that. It occurred to me that Pentax was going for an "analog look."
