Good question, but I can't help you with that.  The store I work at
normally only stocks the big 4 brands when it comes to standard consumer
zoom lenses.  We get good prices from P/N/C/M when it comes to SLR kits
with theses lenses, so there's been no need to consider going with Sigma,
Tamron, or other consumer zoom replacements, though of course we can order
them.  So I've never had the chance to try what you're asking about,
though it would be interesting to see.

And yet look how fast they can learn a new dance or the complete moves to
some music video choreography.  Go figure.
