at wrok at about 1990, we had one of the Yamaha ones that sold for about $15,000 that was the size of s small desk. CD-ROM software and CD-ROMs in general were just coming out then. i still have a few commercial CD-ROMs, just sitting there, including Microsoft's Multimedia Beethoven's 9th.
