How modern? My ZX-5n started doing this when I'd had it about 13 months. (I had the extended warranty. Back to Pentax it went for repair. Has advanced film properly ever since -- four years nine months is "ever since.") Judging from remarks I've seen on lists, this appears to be one area in which this model of camera is known to give trouble.
