I thought that the MZ30 was a replacement model for the MZ50. In any case
the MZ30 has a couple of extra functions - Pop up flash and Night sync
flash - but not significant so a good discount on a new MZ50 could be
attractive.

The MZ30 will not allow you to use non A lenses, it will lock the shutter -
The MZ50 will allow you to use non A lenses but will not meter correctly
with them. Also both cameras do not function correctly if you try to use
the aperture ring - you must select apertures with the camera controls
whilst the lens is set to A - hence the lens incompatibility. Either camera
would be good if you do not intend using older lenses as they are fully
compatible with newer ones. If you do intend buying or already own K mount
lenses then that is the best reason to fork out a little extra for an MZ10
or its replacement the MZ7 neither of which suffer from the restrictions
described.

When I was camera shopping recently I found that the salesman was unaware of
the restrictions described above so it pays to do your own research first.
You are right to ask this list - I have had lots of helpful advice from
here.
