My way of thinking, though, is that I registered just to look at that gallery. I won't ever load any photos there myself, due to those very copyright concerns. But, my thinking is that as long as I don't upload, what harm can come of registering? Or am I out to lunch on that one?

I declined Sony's offer, as well. They can pretty much do anything they want with any photos you load to the site, and that didn't set well with me at all..
So, that also means I can't view any TOPDML photos on there, either, I guess.
