i use a 6 stop filter many times and sometimes a 10 stop filter with the AF
enabled and working through the filter, even on cloudy days. all of my AF
bodies will focus most of the time under the conditions i use them. 10
seconds at f11 is pretty normal exposures for me with AF enabled. when it
doesn't AF, it's usually because of the scene and the camera won't focus
without the ND filters either unless i change AF points to something other
than what i want in focus. then it's MF time, but that is far less than 10%
of the time. if i'm doing macro work, it's almost always MF though.
