Back at home. And with the folks living with me for the moment it adds a
special meaning. Spent some time cooking - under my mother's supervision -
the Thanksgiving meal. From here on out it will be plenty of turkey-based
leftovers :-)

Anyhow, I know there are a couple of you on the list that do read my posts
so here is another installment... This time about my trip north to
Baltimore and NYC. And there were a few PDML gatherings to boot!

I had a nice time being back in an urban environment with plenty of people
around. So much to take notice of and the weather was very nice -
especially coming up from Florida... It is trips like these that remind me
that I really am a people shooter.

One day I accompanied my sister to get her hair cut. A different experience
when done in NY, it seems. Instead of wandering about lower Manhattan I
stayed and observed the interactions within the establishment. It was more
interesting than those found in a drinking establishment.
It brought to mind an idea for a b&w photographic project. Unfortunately it
is not possible where I live :-( Oh well, it will be something I will keep
under wraps until I am in a position to do it. It is not in my nature to
come up with projects. In fact the title was even obvious - I take it that
it is something I need to do at some point.

My first couple of days in the City were fairly cold and I was carrying my
*ist D and an LX - yes, snake-skinned - with assorted fast primes and an
Optio S. I took quite a few available-light shots - quite happy with the
digital ones. I will be getting my slides back in a couple of days. I did
not notice any problems with the *ist D slowing down due to the apparent
temperature. But boy did those Limited lenses get rather hard to hold.

I did stop by B&H. Not much in the used department that interested me. I
did spend some time walking around the main floor. Canon had gone to quite
some trouble to place a prominent display on the floor. As a matter of fact
I even heard one of the sales clerks comment to a customer that Canon spent
a good sum of money placing that display with a representation of their
extensive line of products. She would be better served to go to the
counters and see the availability in the respective types from all
manufacturers. She was ready to do one-stop shopping at the display.
To follow in the line of current threads, by far the longest lines were for
the digital products. Though there were quite a few people in the
developing section.
Something that I had not noticed before were all the runners in the place.
The way the customers were being moved through checkout I would have to say
that they have quite an efficient setup.

Another thing I really enjoyed was the diversity in eating establishments.
And on this trip it seems that food was central to all the PDML gatherings.
Don't worry, there was the obligatory photographic discussions:-)
