Could an MF lens design be translated into an AF lens?

And would the lens mount need changing for AF in a way that would render
it unusable for the old lenses?

I don't know, but a serious investment in design and production would be
required for Pentax to bring this to market unless they could re-use a
lot of stuff.

Would blow Olympus ideas out of the water though!
