My LX was effectively used to get the zoo animal's attention with the first
shot, then get a beautiful face-to-face portrait.  It also worked for a doe
and her fawn which were about 200 yards away, across a lake.  The first
shot: Ka-CHUNK! and they look up and stare at me, next frame, perfect...
