Yup, but there comes DX 17-55/2.8 - much smaller, lighter than L 24-70, and it is eqiv. of 26-80 on 35mm. For all those who don't want to carry extra bulk when they use only APS-sized CCD DSLRs this is better option than Canon's offer in this range.
