I was just taking a look at the *ist D review on dpreview- they mentioned
that the *ist D had slightly lower noise than the 10D up to ISO800, where
the *ist D's noise levels got higher. As I vaguely understand it, CCDs are
supposed to produce lower noise than CMOS sensors, so I'm curious to what
causes this increase. Is this a sensor issue or is it a processing issue?

Thanks,
Ryan

PS. One of the other threads is discussing hot pixels, so I just thought I
might add another question in as well- how well does a CMOS sensor (like in
the 300D, 10D) cope with hot pixels? Would there be a difference?

Interesting questions. Now, who will answer?
