Yes, more and/or less, Andy. The Vivitar 2X Macro-Focusing TC has its own helicoid focusing mechanism (sort of like a built-in variable-length extension tube), as well as some good teleconverter optics, so (when the helicoid is racked out) it can help almost any lens focus closer. With most 50mm lenses, it can get to 1:1 magnification, although not quite as close with most longer lenses. On the other hand, with the helicoid racked in, the TC functions much like the Pentax A 2X-S. Fred
