Hi, as many of you know, CAR Hoare is one of the great computer science pioneers.
Today's 'Independent' http://news.independent.co.uk/digital/features/story.jsp?story=478649 reports that he has launched a series of 'Grand Challenges' for computer science to solve. Apart from the intrinsic interest (many of us here are professionally involved with computers), it is of photographic interest because one of the challenges relates to an issue that's been discussed here quite often. Namely, long-term storage and retrieval of digital information like photographs.
