Right now, today, my *ist-D two lens solution would be 20/2.8 and 43/1.9. My three lens solution would be 20/2.8, 31/1.8, 77/1.8. but I feel uncomfortable about not having a 100mm macro with me, so three becomes four... My one-lens solution would be the 31/1.8. Or, if a zoom, the 20-35/4.0.

Note that all of the above is very tentative and may change by tomorrow morning. Like Rob, I have not settled on the "kit" that I should carry for different circumstances.

I think the gap from 24mm to 50mm is too large. I think lenses work
well in these combinations:

For 2 cameras: 35mm and 85mm
For 3 cameras: 28mm, 50mm and either 85mm or 135mm

My preferences seem to change with systems also. When I had contax the CZ35/1.4 and 85/1.4 were a dream combo however I never really used that set of FL with my Pentax 35mm film gear. I most always used 20/2.8, 28/2 and 50/1.2 however after my purchase of the 31/1.8 LTD my line-up changed again. Since my purchase of the *ist D I've not settled on any particular combination of glass. I'm now feeling the least comfortable that I've ever felt regarding lens selection and this is after extensive testing . :-(
