For DSLRs this is one of the major advantages. The Sony 828 uses a tiny little sensor (8.8 by 6.6mm) with more pixels than the APS sized DSLRs. The photosites are tiny and have a lot of noise. The same is true for most P&S digital cameras. The noise on my Sony DSC-F717 at ISO 100 was about the same as the noise on my *ist D at ISO 800. The 828 has more noise as ISO 100 than the DSC-F717 did. alex
