Yes, you can essentially select the f-stop you want by changing the shutter speed. Here's one area where the PZ-1p, even though it has the aperture control from the body, is at a disadvantage: even though the PZ-1p can use the FA J lenses, seemingly without limits (because the aperture can be selected from the camera body), the PZ-1p's depth-of-field preview is of the old-fashioned mechanical variety, which means it only works with lenses that have aperture rings -- DOF preview doesn't work when the lens is set to "A".

That's too bad with FA J lenses, since DOF preview would probably be of interest to people shooting in either aperture priority or manual exposure.

The MZ-S, along with the MZ-5n and perhaps a few other MZ series cameras, have "electronic" DOF preview, which will stop the lens down in any exposure mode to the f-stop shown in the viewfinder. And that can be adjusted by selecting a different shutter speed.

Yes - only program and shutter priority modes work. On the other hand - how much
of a disadantage this really is, is a matter of personal taste. I use my MZ-S
in P and can instantly flip to any speed/aperture combination I like.

Zitat von "Rothman, Aric" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Is it possible to use above Pentax lenses, which are bereft of aperture ring,
in aperture priority mode on the MZ-S? If so, how? I assume the lenses are
hardwired to appear as being set to 'A,' which, if I understand the MZ-S's
mode selection system, would only allow program and shutter priority modes to
be available.
