Not a problem if you have a broadband internet connection, but a good point if you don't. Actually the fact that Gallery is *entirely* web-based can be a massive advantage in some circumstances - it means you can upload photos and do very basic manipulation, as well as all the administrative stuff, from anywhere on the internet. Plus multiple people can use and administer a single gallery. (It would be trivial to implement the PUG using Gallery, for example, giving everyone their own account to upload from.) This kind of precludes the kind of client based tool you desire, although there is such a tool for image uploads.

That's a genuine limitation, yes, and one which I hope to see fixed eventually. The latest version at least allows you to copy images from one album to another without having to upload them again - now that limitation *was* stupid. :-)
