I suspect it's all relative, the Pentax 20/4 has a pretty bad reputation here as well I believe. The A20/2.8 is a very nice lens, anyone who has compared it to the Vivitar will draw the same conclusion. The only advantage the Vivitar has is price and I believe that that is a false economy in any case.
