Just want to say a big 'YAY' for smartdisk.

I got interested in the flashtrax after they added support for Pentax
RAW format. Prior to that I was looking at perhaps archos/vosonic
etc...

When I went on their wenbsite recently I found they had the 30Gb version
quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else in the UK. But I wasn't quite
ready to buy yet due to needing to obtain clearance from the purchasing
dept ('er indoors).

Then I noticed it went from 'in stock' to 'stock due in soon' but was
still debating the purchase. A couple of times I looked and thought (in
true toss a coin fashion) if it was in stock then it was meant to be and
I would buy it! Yesterday it was no longer listed.

I emailed them to ask why and they said it had been discontinued, and
that the cheap price was a clearance price while stocks lasted. The
person who responded suggested I email someone at head office to see
what they could do for me. I thought "here we go - nothing going to
happen here", but emailed anyway. They guy at head office emailed back
asking what price was being quoted for the 30Gb version. When I told
him, he emailed back again and said that if I phoned and gave him my
Credit Card details he would do me the 40Gb version for the clearance
price of the 30Gb one!

When they made this offer I decided to bypass the purchasing department
as the deal was too good to wait.

All emails were responded to within half an hour of sending them, and
the unit arrives tommorrow.

With customer service this good and responsiveness which made them the
first (and only?) to support Pentax RAW this bodes very well and I would
like to recommend them to anyone who cares to listen.

This was a breath of fresh air after recent dealings I have had with
several online retailers and Tanya's B&H etc experiences.

Just gotta work out how to get it into the house now...
