Hi Jeff,
I don't know which is better optically, for I didn't "test"
them. It's just my impression that A50/1.4 renders colours
more vividly than A50/1.7.
In Japan, A50/1.4 costs around JPY20,000 which makes around
USD160 due to weaker Yen... :( I think in the US it's
around USD100 to 150. I bought mine for USD105.
