It certainly looks worse, chromatic abberations are clearly vissible in the high contrast parts for the Pentax.

On the sharpness issue I am not so sure though ...

Take a close look at the CROP-1 and CROP-2 examples, and check the relative
blur/sharpness of the foreground versus background (like fence versus powerlines)

I can't help to think the Pentax was focussed a bit BEHIND the fence.

With the same (or even wider open) aperture the background details with the Pentax
are less blurred than they are with the macro lens.

This may account for a lot of the softness and blur seen at the fence distance.
With the smaller aperture values the fence comes into the DOF area completely.

The Lantar is still better I think, but the difference is not big as it seems ...
