Anybody out there familiar with the rexagon 28/2.8 in M42 screwmount?

(who made it, did it have other names, how's the optical quality, why
do I find rexagon 28/2.8s in other mounts, etc)

I've been accumulating some oddball 28s for my Spotmatics and I'm
curious if this thing is worth the $40 or so I have been seeing
them priced at. I don't expect anything to compare with the 28/3.5
S-M-C Takumar, of course, but there are times when that 3.5 aperture
is a killer.

I just picked up a 28/2.8 asanuma (early Tokina) and also a 28/2.8
RMC Tokina, both in M42 screwmount. I'll be curious to see how
the lens tests I shot with them and the SMCT 28/3.5 come out, especially
given that the '80s vintage Tokina is a LOT smaller than the late '70s
vintage Asunama and a hair smaller than the Takumar design.

On a related note but off-topic, the last time I developed B&W film in my
sink (now that the paper hasn't got a darkroom anymore) I wound
up with a gray-brownish streaking on my film. It washes off, or
wipes off with difficulty. This never happened at work, so I suspect
that the aggressively-softened water I get at home is to blame somehow.
Anybody remember what causes this problem and how to fix it? I knew
once...
