Late last Friday afternoon, my friend said "Let's hit some photo shows!", so
off we went. First to see his show at a cafe, in aid of Crystal Garden
(www.savecrystalgarden.com) . Lots of excellent pictures of parrots,
marmosets, butterflies, and flowers.

Next to another cafe for one part of a show by Daniel Sikorskyi
(www.Sikorskyi.ca), with live music. Then across the street to a sex shop
for the other part of the show, featuring some nudes. All photos in both
parts were B&W 16x20s of people, quite well done. Nothing like looking at
very good photos while sipping wine served by lingerie models in high heels.

Finally, off to an art gallery to see the winners of a neighborhood photo
competition. A bit of an anticlimax (pun?), and a good illustration of why
8x10s are really too small for gallery display. A long row of framed,
unmatted, 8x10s looked really inadequate. Even bigger frames would have
looked better.

Then across the street for some pizza, and back home. All within four
blocks of my front door (a block from City Hall). All in all, not a bad
Friday evening in Victoria.
