I had some more fun with the *ist D and the a-400/5.6 this morning. Until I bought the *istD my most contemporary camera was the LX, so I had never shot in Hyper Program mode until just two days ago. I'm starting to like it. I still don't know much about it, but it seems to remember whether I last changed shutter speed or the stop and when it makes another adjustment on its own, it will turn the dial I turned last. This is nice when shooting handheld with long lenses. Obviously, you have to keep a minimum shutter speed, so you work the stop. The camera then seems to do likewise. Perhaps modern technology does have its saving graces <bg>. However, I think it's still an advantage to have learned photography on fully manual cameras with a handheld meter. Anyway, here's a fat guy I shot on this morning's walk. Looks like he's had a lot to eat this winter.
